Forum on Working at Heights in Landscape and Horticulture

Invitation to Forum on Working at Heights in Landscape and Horticulture

- For companies in the landscape and horticulture sector

- For organisations that engage landscape and horticulture services

Working at Heights (WAH) is a key priority area in Singapore's safety and health journey. Over the past five years, more than 100 have died due to such work. As of Oct this year, 12 workers died after falling from heights. More can and must be done to prevent such accidents.

The landscape and horticulture sector is no stranger to Working at Heights. Many of the sector's workers engaged in WAH daily, such as in tree pruning and vertical gardens maintenance. Based on the latest WSH Statistics Report, the sector has an accident frequency rate of 1.6 per million manhours worked, similar to the national average. Arising from that, almost 700 mandays were lost due to these work accidents. A number of these cases are a result of WAH activities.

The WSH Council and MOM would like to urge companies in the landscape and horticulture sector to better manage risks involving working at heights, by implementing Fall Prevention Plans and training workers. Doing so ensures worker safety, prevents loss of productivity time, damages and loss of employee morale following work accidents.

At the forum, participants will learn more about their roles in the landscape value chain for WAH, be updated on the upcoming WAH regulations, and can observe demonstrations of fall restraint and arrest systems implemented for green roofs and/or vertical greenery.

The forum is conducted in English and is free of charge. Details of the forum are as follow:
